VINCENT CHANDLER
Vincent Chandler is a trombonist, educator, composer, scat singer, band leader and conductor from Detroit, MI. He has shared the stage with Detroit jazz all-stars, such as Kenn Cox, Donald Walden, Harold McKinney, Marcus Belgrave, Rodney Whitaker, Regina Carter, Marion Hayden, Robert Hurst and James Carter. Vincent has performed nationally with Joe Henderson, Stefon Harris, Geri Allen, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Ravi Coltrane, and The Ambrose Akinmusire Big Band. He performed internationally with J@LC with Wynton Marsalis and The Roy Hargrove Big Band. He was a featured artist on the 2009 Playboy Jazz Festival, where he performed with Marcus Miller, Herbie Hancock, Keb’ Mo and the Roy Hargrove Quintet. He was a featured soloist on Roy Hargrove’s only Big Band CD, called “Emergence.” He is an Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at Wayne State University, former Conductor of the DSO – Civic Jazz Orchestra, DSO Paradise Jazz Series Big Band bandmember, a member of Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble and a 2020 Kresge Artist Fellow.
