Jazz @ The Lincoln Center: Jazz and the Civil Rights Movement

Jazz for Young People on Tour brings outstanding jazz artists and performances to school audiences. Based on the Wynton Marsalis and Sandra Day O’Connor Let Freedom Swing: Conversations on Jazz and Democracy curriculum, Jazz and the Civil Rights Era explores the major social and political changes in America of the 1950s and 60s in the context of Jazz, exploring topics that include Freedom, Protest, Segregation, Free Jazz, and Spirituals.
